Abstract#1: BCLC - Data Governance from Scratch
Sarah Marshall outlines BCLC’s journey in standing up a Data Governance program for the organization from scratch, including all the trials & tribulations along the way, and some lessons learned that can be applied to your data governance efforts as well.
Biography: Sarah Marshall
Sarah Marshall is the Director of Data & Information Governance for the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), a social purpose company that proudly conducts and manages lottery, casinos, sports-betting and online gambling, generating income that is delivered back to the province to benefit British Columbians. Most recently, she oversaw the delivery of a bold new data vision and strategy for BCLC and is currently in the process of implementing it alongside key data & business unit stakeholders.
Abstract#2: Top down DG in China's Banking Industry
In this presentation, Cathy Zhang will give a snapshot on the top down approach to data governance in banking industry per regulatory requirement in China and share some of the data governance practices and challenges that you might be also confronting in your data governance journey.
Biography: Cathy Zhang
Cathy Zhang was the Data Quality Manager in BNP Paribas, a French bank in Shanghai. Over the years with BNP Paribas, Cathy had the opportunity to lead and oversee the establishment of data governance frameworks and implementation of data management strategies. Before joining BNP Paribas, Cathy had played different roles related to data analysis and business planning in Citibank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, HSBC Bank and Accenture. Cathy holds a Master degree of Accountancy from Brock University.
