  2nd Annual DAMA Days Canada in Vancouver - Nov 3rd

  Good morning. 

  Please join us for our 2nd annual DAMA Days Canada conference in Vancouver. Site scheduling constraints limits us to one day, so we are packing that one day full of presentations by international data luminaries, local data stars, as well as the chance to network with Vancouver's data community. Please note that the fully catered event is in-person only and the presentation recordings will only be available to registrants.

  Data topics include:

  • Data Contracts - one of the hottest topics this year will be presented by Chad Sanderson, of DataQuality.camp fame. Chad is a cofounder of Gable.ai ("GitHub for data") and will be talking about how to create data contracts, prevent breaking changes, and scale developer communication.
  • Data Observability - a hot topic for several years now. Hear C.J. Jameson, Engineering Manager at Monte Carlo Data explain the benefits and ROI, as well as metrics like Average Time to discover, and resolve, Data Downtime issues.
  • Data Deli: Serving Up the Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, and Data Catalog Sandwich presented by George Firican from LightsOnData.com
  • Semantic Interoperability Between Humans and Machines In this year of incandescent Generative AI, presented by Evgeniya Makarova.
  • Hats, Suspenders, Data Governance and Metadata by Kurt Cagle on how metadata and AI are changing both the roles and the requirements of Data Governance. 
  • Topics being confirmed include Data Mesh/Fabric, best practices in Data Governance, the Modern Data Stack, and building a DG road map.

  Logistical Details:

  • 7:30 Breakfast and 12:00 Lunch included in purchase price.
  • On the hour speakers from 8:00 to 16:00 (except for 12:00 lunch)
    
  • This is an in-person event with no virtual option, though the recordings and slide decks from all presentations at all 5 chapters will be available.
  • EarlyBird $175, corporate group discount $125, student/unemployed $50.
  • Brella conferencing platform will facilitate attendee networking and access to the recordings and slide decks from all 5 DAMA Canada chapters.
  • We are also planning to provide access to the simulcast presentations from the other chapters in the comfort of our multipurpose "networking" room. 
  • Sessions will target 45 minutes with 15 minutes left for questions and networking.
